Why Canines for Service?
A secret many people do not know about Erika is that she was diagnosed with Dyslexia and ADHD at a young age. Her mother always called her “Clever.” She has spent years trying to cover up her disabilities mostly with humor. While working in Corporate America she found it extremely stressful at times. If only an organization like Canines for Literacy (formerly Paws for READing) was established when she was a child, life would have been a bit easier. Canines for Literacy is part of a therapy dogs program, where certified Canines for Therapy teams help children to improve their reading and communication skills. 100% of the Proceeds go directly to this wonderful organization based in Wilmington, NC.
